App development

How I can help

App development is not about writing code but about solving problems. I believe in clear quick and incremental deliveries and using analytics to make sure we are on the right track. I am further specialized in:

Cross platform development

Cross platform development, when applied correctly, can have massive benefits in time, money and scale. With more than 7 years of experience in Flutter, I helped multiple organisations capatilise on this technology. Still need to use native code? No problem, I have experience creating plugins for both iOS and Android.
Creating apps that scale

An app for 100 users is totally different than when you have 100.000 users and I believe that you need to take scalability into account from the start. I worked on apps that have millions of users and know how to scale your app. My method helps you to deliver quick and scale aggressively.
Building strong development teams.

Succesful apps are build by succesful teams. I have experience in building and leading teams of developers and designers.

The rewrite trap: How it kills startups and what to do instead.

For startups racing against time and money, rewriting code can be a self-inflicted wound draining resources and stalling progress when you can least afford it. Instead continuous refactoring outlined in Martin Fowler’s book: Working Effectively with Legacy Code is a better way to deliver value and maintain momentum. In this article I explain what causes startups to rewrite, why it is dangerous and I provide a better approach to solve the problems.

Balancing productive tension: the essential push-pull between developers and management

In the fast-paced world of startups, the race to achieve goals before time or funding runs out is relentless. The stakes are high because there is a 50% chance the startup does not make it to the fifth year. As a developer you are in the frontline and this means navigating tight timelines and high expectations. However, there's an often overlooked issue in this dynamic: developers not pushing back enough against management decisions. This lack of pushback can lead to significant negative consequences for both the project and the team. In this post, we’ll explore the productive tension between developers and management and discuss ways to create an effective balance that benefits everyone.
